Multi-Vehicle Crash Temporarily Ties Up Traffic On I-270 For Maryland Motorists

With millions of travelers hitting the road before Thanksgiving, some will have to wait to reach their destination after a multi-vehicle crash temporarily blocked several lanes on I-270.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded at around noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27 to a stretch of the northbound lanes involving multiple vehicles and a tractor-trailer.

The crash was reported in the area Watkins Mill Road and Middlebrook Road in the area of Exit 13B, forcing crews to divert traffic at Exit 13A.

During the investigation into the incident, traffic was temporarily diverted from the interstate onto Middlebrook Road at Exit 13A. 

Traffic has since reopened, officials announced shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, though there were still residual delays of approximately five miles.

Details about the crash have not been released.
